Senna....... that's a VERY 'cock-sure' name you have chosen......
Many of us would argue that it is the COVERING of the wheels by side pods and wide rear bumpers that have CAUSED the number of accidents!
Why?
Because we used to RACE WITHOUT them! Those of us who did, know VERY well that, removing SOME of the risk of supposed 'interlocking' has made the driving standards MUCH worse than they used to be when we didn't HAVE them!
Today, the 'man-in-front' CANNOT defend himself against being RAMMED. When we had narrow rear bumpers, you could EASILY retaliate against the 'rammer' and, in FIVE SECONDS, potential rammers learned that it was truly UNSAFE to risk it! (So you know: all you had to do was to move to one side when you expected the 'ram' and the 'rammer' SAILED over your rear whel into the scenery!)
Widening the rear bumper to do 1/3rd of your suggestion INCREASED the number of incidents.
The Side pods did ANOTHER 1/3rd! They are NO BETTER than the final 'nerf' bars we used to use BUT they encourage MORE 'sideswipes'. They do NOT reduce the severity of accidents (I know of ZERO evidence to say that they HAVE helped!) and they do NOT do a better job of preventing Interlocking. All they have done is to PROMOTE the bumper-car style of driving!
Adding COVERS would do is to add the final 1/3rd.......
NO --- THANK ---- YOU!
