For sure the Magnum/Premier clutch is the most commonly used clutch and it works well, but after doing about 10 race weekends of cadet racing and hence about 30-40 standing starts, the clutch shoes soon turn fully blue across the friction face, then you need to completely replace it, you can play with the settings for either a soft or hard engagement to get a good start, but you will compromise your race with a clutch that bites too hard on all corners if you go for the hard setting. Also tell your driver not to burn the clutch to pieces for 5 seconds before the lights go, all he needs to do is just hold it at about 2000rpm then whizz off, works fine for us and we dont lose out on standing starts.

For sure people run other clutches, as the MSA rules allow a wide range of clutch suppliers, but dont expect people to spill the beans on this forum!
