Yesterday I contacted erm, shall we say "one of the circuits" that we race at, and they said the rolling starts are mandated by the MSA, but the day before I had asked them to consider rolling starts, they had already held a committee meeting and decided to approach the MSA and specifically request to run rolling starts, as I guess they have also had enough of start-line pile-ups, and they are awaiting feedback from the MSA.....I certainly think its worth a try on the grounds of both improved safety and good racing for everyone.
On Sundays Whilton heat-4 my honda-cadet son started on the second row, and by the 3rd corner, after the hairpin, he had been barged off onto the grass and he spun back onto the middle of circuit the wrong way round, and stationary and I have to say it was a big crash waiting to happen, but fortunatley the entire grid avoided him, phew........really this was due to drivers being too tightly bunched together, which is the nature of rolling starts, plus my son is finding his way still as he only came off his novice plates in December, so a bit of both issues combined.
