I think a compression check is needed...(before removing the cyl head for a decoke(decarbonising). If you are ok with basic hand tools then removing the cyl head is easy...(as described in this article, within the tech section on here) http://www.karting.co.uk/KandK/Tech/ReplacingGX160Conrod.html
Do compression test and post what pressures you get. Just in case you aren't familiar with doing a compression test here's my method. # make sure on/off switch is set to off # remove rocker cover # flip exhaust valve rocker off valve # remove exh v/v rotator to save losing it # screw comp tester into plug hole (here's a typical tester ) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Draper-Petrol-Engine-Compression-Tester-0-300Psi-0-21Bar-Free-Delivery-DRA37442-/160727810500?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item256c1fc1c4
# open throttle # pull engine over with pull start about six times in quick succession (watch for needle climbing within gauge # read off maximum pressure attained # vent pressure from gauge
If below 120 then strip engine: http://www.karting.co.uk/KandK/Tech/ReplacingGX160Conrod.html
and deglaze with a glaze buster from machine mart ( 3 legged tool fits in pistol drill and a few up and down strokes changes the bore from shiny to matt. If you do it correctly it will look like crosshatching on the bore) # clean bore with petrol # rebuild piston with new rings and refill with new oil # redo comp test and post here.
