To clarify. The restrictors were not made "in a hurry", but after careful consideration by a very reputable engineering firm. Accuracy was obviously one of our main concerns, and I know that all the restrictors were made on the same machine, to the same, close tolerances. You should always see the laser lines, or roughness, in the bore. However, the manufacturer tells me that the colouration will fade and is not in itself an indication that anything untoward has happened to a restrictor. One engine preparer has been altering the condition of the restrictors, and thus rendering them illegal under the regulations. Your beef should be with the person preparing your engine, not with the scrutineer who is trying to ensure you all have an equal chance of winning.
