I think generally the dyno doesn’t lie it’s just that the results need good interpretation. Generally the following needs taking into consideration:
Peak Max HP rarely results in the best lap time because you spend far more time accelerating than being at peak revs towards the end of the straights.
A good dyno isn’t an accurate dyno it’s a consistent dyno i.e. it’s not about it matching someone else’s dyno it’s about it producing repeatable results, so basically don’t try comparing results from different dyno’s, if you’re having engines tested always go back to the same place, otherwise any difference in the results won’t mean anything.
All engines run-in at different rates, so the typical post service dyno run can give very different results to a run done after some track time, so consider having a dyno run done halfway between services if you’re interested in comparing engines.
