Round 4 of the Stretton Circuit Sprint Series (SCSS) on Sunday 17th June sees a revised format incorporating changes to facilitate the new Honda Cadets, Honda Junior and the GX200's classes.
If all goes to plan we should be able to finish around the same time as usual but it will require everyone to be ready to race and therefore reduce the time between races. I have reduced the number of laps slightly but this is something I was asked to do prior to the change in format. We will have to start late comers from the pit lane so please keep an eye on the timetable and be ready to roll as soon as the chequered flag drops on the preceding race.

Just to recap on the change to the Honda class;
The new Honda junior class is open to all drivers under the age of 16 on twin honda 160 prokarts. You are not obliged to race in the junior class if you are already racing as a pro or clubman and lap (on the normal layout) in a sub 34 second lap but I would hope that this new class attracts as many juniors as possible and in particular I hope it will encourage juniors to start racing that would otherwise have been put off by the pace of things in the senior class. For the class to work, it will need drivers to get on board and encourage other members/drivers to join too.
The regs basically stay the same as the senior regs with the exception of the following changes;
Weight 155Kg
Tyres
Bridgestone YDS slicks ANY Wet Tyre (I will revise this at some point but I am concious that we started the season with no wets so I don't want to add extra expense in asking drivers to buy new specified wets)
In addition to the new Honda junior class we will also run cadets (as a split grid).
Basic outline is as MSA Regs with weight at 99Kg and Dunlop SL3's (again, I am happy at this stage of the proceedings to allow any wet tyre to be used until the class establishes itself however, any future change to the basic framework outlined here will move towards MSA regulations as we want to encourage cadets to race elsewhere too.
The Subaru Class and the Honda Senior class remain unchanged although I'll be happy to look at placing midfield Honda Pro drivers into clubmans to make up for the fact that several clubmans will move to Juniors.
Race entry remains at £35.00 for the day with transponder hire at £5.00 although the advent of 4 classes should ease the pressure on our limited number of hire transponder. (Please bear in mind that we are considering making transponders mandatory for 2013 so try and pick one up if you have the opportunity).
I hope the changes to the format will better help to accommodate the growing numbers at Stretton and also help to encourage new drivers (in all classes) to come and race.
Round 4 will be run on the normal layout.
