I see the issue being getting two trains of karts through the esses. We can't even manage it on the formation lap, let alone at full race pace!
A rolling start nearer the corner (JCC) still has the problem of two trains of karts trying to funnel into a bottleneck, albeit at a lower speed. I do seem to recall many years ago that the races were standing starts on the pits bend so you were straight into the esses - this was hire karts.
Most of the starts on Sunday should have been aborted. Except for the first heat, the lead kart accelerated well before the flag had dropped.
I like Ross's suggestion of starting on the back straight. This allows rolling starts and four corners before the squeeze of the chicane.
Maybe as Lard says, it might be as simple as Dave and his marshalls being more strict on aggressive driving?
