Granted EX21 engines seem to go for peanuts, I've bought a few myself to put back onto concrete mixers. I wonder why that is?
The KX21 is based on the EX21, but many of the parts are different. The project was between Subaru and an American engine builder, the brief was to build an economic 4 stroke racing engine that could be mass produced. Reliable, relatively powerful and cheap, but most of all equal, straight out of the box.
From my fairly considerable experience of this engine I can say without reservation that it achieves all of these goals.
New engines can be completely sealed and they start and remain equal. Other than an occasional oil change they need no other intervention to give good cheap equal racing. I don't believe you can say all this about any other other class, now more than ever with all the overt SP BS, especially with the Honda GX160.
I should make it clear as well that I have absolutely no sporting or commercial interest in this class in the UK. I just know a good thing when I see it.
