I was looking around for informaton around my beloved Biland and found something very interesting out.

I always knew that the engine was originally developed for the Smartcar, and lost out in the selection process. I also always new the Biland engine was capable of so much more power for two reasons, 1) because it was meant for a car and 2) i ran the 35HP european version in the world champs in 05, where the extra power was gained only thorugh a different set of coils, a little machining on the carb, and a different exhaust.

However, the original engine was actually a turbo 2 cylinder 65HP piece of kit, which could of been fitted to kart no problem at all! Can you imagine that? Would love to get my hands on that turbo kit, then it would be Bye Bye Aixro engine!
