Sounds like you have a bit of broken exhaust baffle sitting on top of the piston ! Take the spark plug out ,slowly turn the engine with the clutch nut ,then use one of those small telescopic magnets and bend it to feel round the back of the piston and you should get it out !
then get the exhaust sorted... good luck
