A couple of weeks ago, I utrasonic cleaned a head, when I rebuilt the engine I forgot to oil the rockers so they were completely dry. Furthermore because it was really cold, the oil (not cool power) was really thick and was not moving up to the top end. Thus the engine started but was reluctant to rev and then started screeching, took a while to work it out, but to cut a long story short a few drops of oil on the rockers and problem solved. Brought it home again how crucial that part of the engine is, if you look carefully at these parts you can see how rough the finish is. In the states they lap and ream just about everything rather than just running fluid oil to let things wear and relying on run time to get a free motor. All very much on the limit of legality though I should think.
