I'm sure that Warden Law would be interested to hear that some think the organisation on the dummy grid was poor. It is without doubt the responsibility of the driver to get on their correct grid spot in good time, and if you miss it, tough. If someone is in your spot, tell them. Simple.
The biggest thing for me, however, is that you would think from reading this thread that WL is the only circuit in the country to run a grid of 40 karts. It's not!! 40 karts through the first corner is normal, and dealing with the chaos as it happens is as much a part of racing as any other element. To give the clubmen a chance to miss the elite spinning off just does not make sense to me. I gather that there was only a small split this time, but by the end of every heat and particularly the final we were lapping a fair number of back markers. This meant that on every occasion the result of the elite races was largely determined on playing the guessing game with where/when/if the back markers were going to give way. Not only that but the backmarkers are entiltled to race just as much as we are at the front and on many occasions blue flags ruined their little battles amongst themselves. Putting in a bigger split would make this problem much worse. I actually enjoy racing through traffic but it doesn't seem right that its a major part of a sprint race. The obvious and only solution in my opinion is to run the whole grid as one and get on with it.
The thread above is about Le Mans. The first 'corner' there is a chicane where two into one just does not go. 40+ karts manage to pass the first lap year after year over there without too much bother so I'm not sure why people think its such a problem at WL.
That's my thoughts on the situation and I'm not asking anyone to agree, it's just what I think. Whatever, its a cracking little championship that caters for all abilities and it's great to see that the biggest problems of all have arisen because it's so popular.
Adios
