I for one think it's a great idea and the perfect solution.
I get the impression that many of the people posting are karting 'old hands'.
Maybe you've forgetten what it's like when you first enter the sport, you get all the kit, read all the books, train and train and then go racing. Only to be completely blown away by a cocky lad who looks like he is making no effort (he's deceptively fast and smooth). So then the natural and usual reaction is, 'he's got more power than my lad'. At this stage in my experience people do one of 3 things: 1:If they get good advice and guidance they dig in and learn to drive better. 2: If they get bad advice they spend megabucks on engines or worse start to cheat. 3: If they get no advice they will probably quit the sport. Next weeks ebay sale.
I think the Buy Back scheme will get people over this hurdle, they will soon know that the engines are equal but if nessasary they can buy the 'cocky' lads engine to find they go no faster.
