Checks were made on ALL seals at Clay S1, several had to be changed due to chaffing of the tie cables. Then at Buckmore they took the Carb inlet manifold off to look inside. Also the exhaust manifold outlet orifice on some.
The scruteneer told us this was one of the areas modified in the Bourton engine. This should be smooth but have no signs of machining or filing around the inlet orifice. There were additional mods inside the engine that required the seal being taken off which we couldn't check ourselves, but a quick look inside this inlet area would indicate any issues, then if unsure send the engine to Tal-ko expalining your concerns, I am sure they would do a low cost check as they are keen to ensure there are no more modified engines in the system.
I know these engines can do 80+ hours before a service (It cost me around £450.00 + vat for a service at the end of last season) but now may be the time to get the older engines in for a refresh ready for next season and also piece of mind that its all ok.
One good point to come out of this is we know the scrutineers are doing there very best to ensure as level a playing field as possible for us to race under.
