Unlike on two strokes, the increments in oversize are quite big and so even on the 120 you get a visable increase in power from the oversizes especially in the midrange.
If oversizes were allowed, to be competitive, everyone would have to go to the maximum size, defeating the object of doing it in the first place.
At least in the UK new blocks are relatively cheap, here in France the new bare blocks are 654€ (£500)that's only about £30 less than a complete new engine.
Even so our rules are less than clear on oversize pistons, but when it was rumoured that they would be allowed, all the suppliers throughout France were cleaned out in a matter of days. We continue here with a 'grey' area meaning that some can get away with it and others can't.
