Don't get too excited. Consider .... the regs.Poorly written but.. Clutch shall be ...of magnum , horstman, maxtorque,Noram 4000 or 1600 series or any other meeting the same criteria. I would interpret this as you can use the sort of clutches you have always used, including clutches of the same type from different manufacturers. Plate clutches are out. Clutches must be as supplied so no lightening. You might argue the case for a clutch supplied with light shoes but otherwise you are stuck with something very similar to the normal Magnum....... Performance... Clutches transmit torque. A gx 160 in its working range has twice the torque of an iame cadet engine . The iame clutch is too small to transmit the honda torque, and as the Honda is running at less than half the revs ,an iame style centrifugal clutch would have half its normal torque capacity when running at Honda revs. So inadequate by a factor of 4.... Effect....As an estimate the normal Honda clutch represents 10% of the inertia value of all the rotating parts of the engine, flywheel , crank, timing gear, so that even if you could throw away the clutch altogether inertia reduction would only be 10% max. Then... If a clutch was available which gave a 3 tenths advantage 'Kelvin' would have the choice of either allowing it, requiring everybody to get one. or banning it. Knighty assures us that his clutch is 'legal' but, and don't take this wrongly, his driver has never won a trophy. Christo would never have had any bother with his rotax if he had driven round midfield!
