Just to open peoples eyes to what is available if you look, here's a couple of links that could offer alternative clutches:
http://www.heeters.com/kartclutches.shtml
http://www.noramclutch.com/go-kart-clutch/noram/cheetah-sp2.html
Interestingly Norman (I think) make the magnum clutch, they describe it as ideal for entry level racers and they do what they consider to be better models!
Also looking through the clutch specs, most offer light and heavy shoes, so if reducing inertia is your aim, make sure you do have the light shoes fitted (you need to match springs to shoes to get the right speed engagement)
It's always easier to follow what everyone else is doing and even something like, just looking for a better clutch, could take up many hours of, researching, testing and produce a bench full of clutches that don't work but as knighty pointed out, think outside the box and find something, others have missed and you could find several 1/10's for way less that the latest "Big" engine!
