I would suspect that the hole could render your exhaust illegal regardless of the seal being intact. There is a performance gain achieved when the flang is opened or a blow torch used to burn a hole (to simulate wear!!!) both of which would get you dsq.

I haven't experienced the issues you have but we are seeing regular failure of the exhausts in the 200 class with both the welded areas and the body which I have never really witnessed before. We have added our own strength but it could be that Honda have simply tried to reduce cost which would be fine for a generator which sits all day at 2500 revs.

The engine builders will be seeing this more than anyone. Speak to them (they don't bite) but it could be you will be parting with some cash soon.
