Sorry, I got distracted with my previous reply.
To put things in context, our engines have been designed for industrial use where they will be abused all day on building sites and run on the cheapest oil that the purchasing department can get their hands on.
When used in hire kart fleets, they will run on a bulk semi synthetic 10W40 oil and never see an oil change for the equivalent track time that the average owner-driver would do over 5 years.
If you had one of these mega buck SP engines (or even lucky enough to have one with a name stamped on the block such as 'Predator' or 'Sheep Shearer'), then you would want to cherish the engine and put in the finest oil you could.
For your common-or-garden standard RPM engine, your Halfords oil will be fine. Whilst your average cadet fathers are remortgaging their houses to buy the kit to get little Johnny onto the podium, it's good to see there are some fathers out their who are a bit more frugal with their money.
