They want to do it to slow the Hondas down and ensure the IAME is the fastest cadet engine at all circuits. A bit stupid really because increasing the Honda weight limit will allow drivers to stay in the class a bit longer, and extra experience will more than make up to a few extra kg.
It also raises a safety issue with the smaller 8 years olds. If the weight limit goes to 106kg my nearly 8 year old will require 26 kg of lead. Admittedly he might grow a bit in the next few months - he might gain 10% of his bodyweight and only need 24kg by the time he's race ready! We have minimum driver weights in the junior classes for safety reasons but this seems to have been forgotten in cadets where other issues appear to take priority.
Someone needs to get a grip and stop allowing commercial pressure to set the rules.
