Graeme, thanks – with 4617 posts and 13yrs I defer to your experience ! So, if SP engines were the problem, (whoever was to blame for them), why didn’t you just bin the ‘pro’ class, and have one ‘buy-back’ class ?
When I asked how they are sealed, I mean literally, how are they sealed ? Which bits are tamperproof ?
Anyway, if you’re happy that they’re all going to be dyno’d equal, and stay equal the next day ad nauseum, then fine, but surely the fact that there is a buy-back price of £400 is tacitly admitting that they’re not going to be. And if you’re happy with buy-back now, why weren’t you with 160s ? Maybe it was a case of not wanting to give up your SPs then, so why is it OK to give them up now ?
Seems to me that some people will be swapping one buy-back class that was independently policed, for another that isn’t.
If the initial rush to do this continues, it may well increase overall grid sizes – I sincerely hope so. But where there was a one class championship, it will dilute the overall grid – and that’s my worry.
