If they're straight, don't bother replacing them. If stubs are snapping, they've either been machined incorrectly (stress raiser) or have the incorrect metallurgical structure (base material or heat treatment).

I did hear a rumour at the Teesside 24hr that someone had been making aftermarket stub axle replacements for 7Kart which had been designed not to bend. As these would most likely be made from a less ductile material than the standard 7Kart parts, their failure mode would be a fracture. Perhaps there is substance to that rumour if there are stub axles fracturing out there?
