Hi Thunder.

In order of importance (in my opinion):-

1) Age of tyres, newer almost always better.
2) Tyre pressures (what are others using)
Weight Distribution. The front should weigh between 40% and 45% of the total chassis weight and the rear should (obviously) be 60% to 55%. The weight should be further forward (i.e., near to 40% front : 60% rear) in the dry.
3) Axles widths
4) Camber/Caster of the front wheels

Oh..... I forgot the REAL number 1..... driver experience. The less 'bum in seat' time he has the worse he'll be.

Things get more esoteric after those.
