Unless we know your current weight distribution (and that's controlled by where the seat is mounted and how) then we CANNOT advise you where the weight SHOULD be placed.

Unless we know his current weight, we CANNOT advise how much weight he'll need.

Ideally, calculate/measure his weight distribution and his actual total weight. If he's only 6, he won't be racing yet so the actual weight is not that important..... but the distribution (front compared to rear) IS important.. Basically, the lighter he is (assuming it's distributed correctly) then the faster he'll go.
