Let’s be clear about this, SP’s, or whatever you want to call them, do give a small advantage which can be significant, particularly over 6 hours! It doesn’t change the fact that hardly a weekend goes by that someone isn’t bending my ear about the cost of these things, and can’t I so something about it? And it is as much from those using them, as those not! Whilst skimming the block would take one variable away it is only a small piece of what constitutes an SP. All three preparers I have visited in the last month have rigs to measure air flow through the ports, for example, and there is no simple way of blueprinting those! So I’m sorry if I seem pedantic, but I can’t visualise a simple economic method of equalising these engines so they are all the same. That only leaves me with an “economy” class and I believe the simplest way to police that is through a buy-back process, to deter people from spending money on engines which could very easily be taken from them at the end of the day. Drivers, it’s your choice! Whatever happens we are going to have to use this T2 and I have, with the help of the others, made a best guess of what will make the T1 and T2 equal. With only a first sample to work from, our results could be skewed, we’ll just have to wait and see. But we did out best with what we were given.
