hey mate, erm yeh for the kartmania challenge you will need an msa licence, for other prokarting you wont, because its non msa racing. theyre about 50 quid for the year and you need to take an arks test, basically theory and practicle like a car test, but easy to pass, again think thats about 50 quid.
in terms of chassis these really 3 choices, ms kart, 7 kart and wright. in terms of speed other people will tell you on here if one is faster than the other, but i have been told theyre all pretty equal. engine wise you tend to have 3 types of engines, standard, race tuned and selected parts. forget standard, you wont get anywhere with them. race tuned are good, but selected parts are the best, basically an engine builder will take 10 engines, and get the best bits off them all and build 2 really good engines....but they do cost a fair bit more...
rpm engines and ufo engines are meant to be the beest...google rpm power for their website.
im pretty new to prokarting....there is a hell of a lot of knowledgable people on here so they will probably tell you more....and correct me too!!!!
