A quick word of advice.....
When a subject in karting seems to have two or more different answers that are HOTLY defended by different groups, then you can be pretty damned certain that there is NO 'right answer'!
You'll find LOADS of examples like this in karting.....
Being a bit hard on you, the problem is that you are behaving as if there *IS* a 'right answer' and you keep asking.... 'so... which is it?..." Stop doing that! You now know that there is NO 'definitive' answer to this question.... hence the equally hard-defended, differing answers.
If there WAS a 'definitive' answer to this question, why on EARTH would ANYONE buy the 'wrong' choice......?
You also seem to be assuming that it's EITHER SP OR Tuning.... why not BOTH......?
You now have two options:-
1) Get VERY rich and offer to buy the MOST expensive engines available IF they turn out to improve your lap times enough on a 'test day'. That's probably the 'easiest' option......
2) The more difficult option is to.... Get VERY lucky and buy two new motors whoich just happen to be quick ones!
Failing either of those, make sure that your prepartion of the WHOLE kart.... and the DRIVERS.... is as high as you can afford to get it..... and enjoy your racing.
And remember, the single GREATEST pleasure in Karting (aside from 'winning', of course) is to beat someone who has spent VASTLY more than YOU have........!
