I must admit, I have not looked at a Kelgate system closely for years. They do mention a 'pull-back' option, specifically on the Pro page....but seem to suggest it's an 'option' .

http://www.kelgate.co.uk/info_download/Price_list_pro.pdf

All I can say is that there are LOADS of other brake systems which use EXACTLY what I suggested.

Where the pads are NOT attached to the piston (as on most brake systems), the pads only remain in place because of the 'pins' or 'grooves' in the caliper preventing them from falling out. In those cases, the pistons can only PUSH the pads. The piston can have NO method of PULLING the pads back if they are not attached to the piston and are not attached by 'springs' TO the caliper.

So, how are the pads connected to the pistons on the Kelgate? I genuinely don't know.

Ian
