Did being a works driver give me an advantage... Yeah!!! Having factory support or support from an importer will always give you an advantage. You'll always have a better prepared chassis than a customer. You end up in priviaged position having more knowledge and inforamtion available to you. That gives you an advantage.

Also an importer / maufacturer isn't going to turn up with bog standard motors, old tyres, etc... The aim of the game is to sell karts. So yes if you sell karts you're going to give yourself every advantage you can. It's not just a sticker on a van it's a business, is it not?

I also tended to avoid going toe to toe with club racers when I was 'works' supported as it didn't prove anything. I certainly didn't hurt the brand by knocking them off
