I've not seen a power curve for one of these engines but I guess maximum power is produced around the 11,000-11,500rpm mark, so maybe a voluntary 11,200rpm limit makes sense, so long as it doesn't effect lap times.
It seems to be a love/hate relationship with these engines [it was with mine]. Everybody loves the torque/power/drivability/sound of these engines, but their durability is now being questioned and rebuilds are not cheap when compared to a Max, for example.
But, my biggest bugbear with these engines is that you can not [or could not] buy the parts to do your own engine rebuild. I know I've had this gripe before but I feel that this gives the engine very limited appeal to the not so small leisure market and non-msa competitors.
