To be fair, the difference between blueprinting and selecting parts is commonly confused. They are actually poles apart, blueprinting is the quest to have every part identical as shown on it's blueprint, while parts selecting is the quest for parts that for whatever reason are different, in a way that makes them faster. The irony is that while the latter is more expensive and can ultimately lead to less equal engines, it is legal. While the former, when done, and controlled, properly is not only cheaper but leads to more equality, but is illegal.
