Exactly, close racing is what's required. Seems to be something of a holy grail in karting though, wherever you go and in whatever class. As the Classic car racers say, 'Go Fast, Slowly'.
It can't be Rocket Science to produce equal, reliable engines with no scope for cheats or fat wallets.
Unfortunately, if that ever happens, you won't need an engine builder or a mechanic and you won't need multiple engines. Rich parents or sponsors won't be able to buy speed from a team awning and those 30k+ for a seasons racing cheques will dry up. Which is of course is why it will never happen.
Which is unfortunate, because otherwise how is real, once in a generation, talent supposed to come through and be spotted when so much is disguised by money?
