Stub Axles for a Bowman - Is there an alternative?

I have a 99 Bowman and I'm bending the stub axles at a rate of knots. The are very soft compared to the chassis so simply hitting tyres seems to bend them.

Spare stubs are becoming hard to find and I'm looking at what could be used instead of the originals.

Has anyone any ideas?
