I tend to agree... But they are just assumptions!
You say "Welshy's engines have been scrutineered over several years at Warden Law...' as an example not suggesting anything in any way, it's really just proving the point that these are all assumptions. But the motors Steven used to use are on the back of Chris Bancrofts kart... (I think?) So they probably aren't the same motors that you are used to seeing him racing with.
I think though generally everyone knows when there is an obvious disparity and they tend to start moaning about it quickly.
I think it's a good thing to randomly check motors, also from experience it tends not to be the front of the field that are dodgy. It's the middle. The random checking keeps everyone on their toes and ensures a more level playing field which is what everyone wants.
But really motors don't give you that much, You could be talking 0.5 - 0.7 between a good pair and a bad pair. But if you want to cheat tyres is the only sensible option you can gain full seconds!!! They should be checking them more often.
