thanks for the response ,I never actually thought about the non filtration aspect of these engines so I take the above advice given and will continue to change regular!!..
John. on the point you mentioned on the running in oil , I agree with that , I used to race a stroked/tuned Hayabusa powered westfield race car and my engine builder explained to me if an engine isnt run in correctly and the rings bedded in it will glaze and never make its full power, I run this engine in myself (yes me at 6ft on the bairns cadet kart! ) and run it in with running in oil to bed it in, using full throttle openings from lower revs increasing to full throttle to flat out, the lads gx160 engine (standard prokart engineering motor) now with a few hours on it goes well , It may have nothing to do with how it was run in but it made 5.3hp on rpms dyno which im told is quite healthy for a run of mill motor.
