I have been asked to cancass views on the grid situation between Elite and Clubman. Whilst this may be discssued further after drivers' briefing on Sunday I don't see why opinions can be shared and expanded upon in this thread.
The three options are:
1. Start per timed qualifying and race each heat where you finished (ie mixed) and the officials will sort out the results and points
2. Separate the grid but starting together
3. Separate the grid by 50 yards or so.
For the avoidance of any doubt separate races is not yet up for discussion or debate (lets see what happens next year!!)
In my view the full grid option works (1). Historically this was how the grid has been run so successfully over the years and it means that, clubman or elite, you are racing with karts that are running at or around the same speed/time. From a saftey persepective it works as you do not have the differential between the slower elite drivers being slower than the quicker clubman either getting in the way and spoiling everyones race. For that reason Option 2 is my least favorite.
Finally grids split - well this only works if there is a good number of karts in each class and there is adequate separation like we used to have with WF (remember them!). Also it would make sense if the clubman start is delayed until there is s second wave of the flag.
Elite numbers will be down this month as several of our trusted drivers are off to defend the MS Lucas team's 24heurs de Le Mans championship.
Easy decision in my view - one grid - keeps it easy for the lads at WL too.
