yeah the older coils didn't produce as strong a spark and they were upgraded to the ones with the red HT coils on the back of the engine. The older ones were black HT coils built in to the pickups by the magnetic rotor. Saxon recommended to close up the plug gap to achieve easier starting.
The newer red coils were fine though and produced a much more stronger spark and are a very worthwile upgrade.
