It was in effect a tuned generator engine like all the other honda's. But the GX360 is the only engine in the honda range to benefit from water-cooling.
From what i've now seen the 390cc upgrade kit took them to 35hp, but what really makes them stand out is the torque figures.

All the new stuff coming out and even the old 250cc EcoMotos produce around 25-26 Nm of torque.
A 390 honda kicks out somewhere in the region of 45Nm!

They have and still can race in Formula 6's open class. I've been trying to get hold of one to test compare it against the current machinery.
