Anyone who thinks this will level the playing field should still be watching teh disney channel.
Just because you have to sell your engine for #450 doen't mean that the replacement will cost that. So little jonny wins, perhaps as a consequence of tallent, then again perhaps because of a "Sellected Parts" engine. So he has to sell it cause he won - do you honestly think dad will go to RPM and simply buy an off the shelf engine? I don't think so. This will not stop cheque book racing and anyone who thinks differently has limited exposure to what makes the motorsport moneygoround tick.
And just because it works in USA is no argument either - they ellected George W Bush for gods sake and have you seen their regulations. Biggest Prokart grid in the country turned it down flat at a drivers' vote followed quickly by Warden Law and certain engine builders think it is a pile of pants too.
This has been discussed regularly already on here. It works if the class is just establishing. Hondas have been raced under stable rules for a few years now and grids are growing - Cadet and Senior. Just leave it alone.
Oh, and there is nothing wrong with the #350 engine that RPM are supplying (complete with Clutch, pump and cover) - perhaps plus VAT and if I was being driven into this stupid rule I woul dbe racing a pair of those next year and make #100 profit on each engine.
