Am I way off the mark in thinking that this is hoped to be a way of reducing what can be very time consuming engine controls? Because if you look at the complexity of the way this works in the States you will see this is no quick fix solution.
In actual fact to work effectively it will mean far more controls, any engine that is to be bought will need to be comprehensively stripped and checked before sale otherwise it opens up a can of worms of potential accusations should a problem be found later.
From what I have seen and heard of the class it seems that any cheating that does exist is now chasing smaller and smaller gains and that in anycase the officials are pretty quick to pick up on it.
Looking at the times for this class I would say there is plenty of scope for the cream ( purely in driver terms) to come to the top. Which is more than can be said for many other classes.
