I think your right. The US regs are very comprehensive, I build my own engines, with a few home made gauges - Ie I use a 72 tooth sprocket for an angle wheel!! a dial gauge and digital caliper I can measure just about everything. My concern with the current UK regs is they don't lay down all major component limits, (and the few that are in regs are wrong!!) nor does the Honda Shop Manual. This gives people the oppertunity to cheat and then claim 'it came straight from Honda like that' Scruts then have to prove it didn't. Proper specified limits that 99.9% of genuine Honda parts meet makes it clear and fair for all and removes much of the grey area where cheats can prosper. I devised my own set of limits last year, if anybody is interested? i'm happy to post them here.
