Let's just treat this for what it is shall we, a money grab.
"How can we get a surge in entries for our series, without reducing the cost?"
"Untapped market that has no other option for a race series". Simples.
My question would be why are we trying to get 7 year olds racing in a national series? I've always been an advocate of leaving 8 and 9 year olds to race at club level, let the kids enjoy racing without the pressure of ridiculous money being thrown at their racing by parents desperate for little Johnny or Janie being the next Lewis Hamilton (well, only marginally more pressure I suppose). Now we're trying to get 7 year olds in on this too?!
I've already said that if my daughter shows an interest in karting, we're not even considering MSA racing, never mind national level, until she's into Juniors. Any Cadet racing will be non-MSA only. No pressure, no big spending, just fun. And that's if her mother lets her anywhere near a kart circuit
