Yes knighty, spot on. The problem is that being 4 years old most of the "A" and "B" engines are on their last legs and if not had, then are due a new barrel and/or bottom end. When we got to that point with ours, then our "N" engine was quickest.
We used to run in new engines and from our best to a brand new out the box(then fiched) was around .3 of a hp, and by 6 hours and second piston it was just down to carb settings on the day.
