The black tube plugs onto two little 90 elbows into the side of the carb, These elbows are just a press fit and can loosen or come out; as I found in one race last month. I started to feel a cold 'patch' to my side / hip next to the engine. Apart from wetting myself - which would have been warm but also likely at my age! I thought 'what's that', but didn't want to stop the race. As it went round high speed right handers I felt an extra surge of 'coldness' to that side and then stinging / burning. The elbow had come out of the side of the carb and fuel was coming out of the hole and onto my side as I went round a right hander - fuel surge to that side of the float bowl. I figured it out on the last lap as the stinging / burning of the fuel on my skin became almost unbearable. At that time on the last lap I remember thinking, avoid kerbs to avoid raising sparks on the chassis and if I see flames I'll stop. Crazy things you think when adrenalin kicks in!!!!
