Piston engines are all a bit pathetic: when asked to do a bit of work, a 2-stroke engine will shriek while a 4-stroke engine will groan. Both complain in their own way, neither likes it and both tell the driver as much. Real music is not played with something primitively bashing up and down. That just hurts.
But these are all mere personal preferences and we do fortunately have choices.
Meanwhile, the facts are:
Open TaG makes all the sporting sense in the world and already exists in IKR, although it could benefit from some tweaking with weight adjustment etc.
Open TaG is absolutely impossible in MSA racing because the ‘class’ owners would have to relinquish power and thereby control over tyres, a major source of revenue.
MSA karting is a closed shop serving established interests. However, a momentous decision about to be handed down by the MSA will, because it’s a lose/lose situation, probably precipitate a further steep decline in this segment of karting. The choice is merely between decline and falling off a cliff. But that’s a topic which hasn’t attracted much interest on this forum.
It nevertheless looks as though we’re poised for a very interesting 2015.
I’ll now hit the submit button not knowing where in the thread this post will end up. Does anyone understand how this works?
