I've taken a lot of care with the battery knowing its 'sensitivity'. Talko can also provide a lead acid battery but advised that the Lipo was far better. There is no longer any charging circuit on the TKM TAGs. I don't know for sure but normally starters can't engage if they are rotating slower than the ring. I guess it could have engaged, started the engine and then not disengaged. However I would have expected to hear this on the grid and also it would have slowed him down on the track. More likely the relay failed whilst he was driving and caused the starter to spin up. However, without it being engaged to the engine I wouldn't imagine it would then draw sufficient current to overheat the battery.....but I'm no expert on this !
What sort of battery does the Rotax use ?
