I had the same decision to make with my lad. And must say we have enjoyed Junior Blue. The grid has been small, but maybe that has helped us to some extent. My lad is sill 11 so we have many years in karting, we plan to continue with Blue.
The 19 year old who has won the Senior Blue this year I think might disagree with the "Old Men" comment :-) As will the young ladies who race in Snr Blue also. :-)
There are some older gents who race and I think this is great, as at nearly 50, with my last kart race being in 1981, Snr Blue looks ideal for me to race against youngsters and "more experienced" drivers also. I believe the word "Legend" is used to describe the over 50s so I have some way to go yet.
The contact and general driver appreciation in Snr Blue is clearly obvious. The idea of me entering a Senior Max event would be suicidal given my observations of many events to date. Again, its not the class/engine, its the popularity and with it the wider mix of "personality" on the grid which is the reason for contact I believe.
It is a shame about the finals, I do not know the official reason behind the cancellation but I guess Larkhall is a long trek for many budget racers. Especially if you are not in the running for a pot based on the seasons points.
