Funny the talk about safety....the worst injury we had last year at the A&D centre I work in was caused by some kid running down a grass bank and falling over. Broke his knee cap. Another one a couple of months back broke his wrist - playing Red Rum and jumping over a fence in baggy racing overalls. Cost us a set of Probans, that one.
Karting as it stands is dangerous, but real life is also dangerous. That said, there's no harm in reducing injuries where possible - chain guards are only a few £££ (there's an OTK-compatible one for £20 on eBay brand new) and I can't see any "unforeseen consequence" from that. We're getting a bit close to hysterical here, when the discussion should be about rolling starts! Let's get back to relevant comments.
