I had probably the best view of all today as I commentate from directly above the grid.

Putting all opinions about standing/rolling starts, driving standards , bodywork and the negative effect it has had on driving standards etc etc aside here are a few facts about today.

Super one and john Hoyle in particular took a lot of stuck today from engine builders, team managers, observers with vested interests and onlookers so S1 did a very reasonable thing and asked the DRIVERS for a class by class vote on what they wanted to do. It was quite funny to watch the smiles disappear from all those people moaning about standing starts as the DRIVERS in Cadet Honda, Mini Max and Junior Max voted overwhelmingly for standing starts while the senior drivers, obviously feeling far above such a thing that was only decided following the quite frankly disgraceful driving standards at the O plate last weekend, voted against.

The results were as follows: in 9 standing start heard there were no first turn accidents and no clutch related retirements. In mini max William Pettit was able to drive from last into the top ten after a chain guard problem on qualifying while cadet plowman Oliver Clarke recovered from a poor start that dropped him to almost 20th and made it back into the top six.

The seniors with rolling starts had a multi kart crash in heat 1 that took out john Stewart and josh Collings and then had 3 false starts and a rollicking from the clerks in heat 2

It may not be required at every round and the concept may not find favour in all corners but standing starts were a massive success today and there are no disgruntled customers in the paddock tonight feeling that their championship has been ruined in the first round by heir driver getting fired off continuously at the start
